Pecos River Canyon

We had neglected this area in the back of our book, so we decide to go investigate it. Not sure how much time we have, we go for the main crag right on the road. I’m surprised how good this little granite playground is! Routes:

Rejuvenating Facial 5.9+
A slopey lieback right off the ground requires finesse from the start, and gets the blood flowing. The committing roof then adds adrenaline. My eyes are wide open at the end of this one!
Lesbian Thong Trot 5.10b/c
Once again I find exposed, exciting moves, and more than one! I’m quite thankful to get the sequences on my first try. The route is fairly long with an anchor back from the edge, so I belay Ann up from the top.
Mofo 5.11d
We toprope this. I use my maximum reach to get the key roof hold – a move that shuts Ann down, definitely harder to do without the big reach. Still, I’m happy to get up this even with a big reach and a few falls. Excellent climbing in my book.

  1. hmmmmmmm… “5.11d”. color me skeptical.

i think, just for the sake “keeping a grip on reality”, you should make a filter that changes any grade you that’s larger than say.. “5.11b” to “5.9+”.

let me know if you want any other self-help advice,

    sincerely,
