Wyoming CDT 2009

The biggest planning challenge for this trip is that many people want to participate! I’d like to use this web page as a common point of reference for everyone.

Plan summary: During July Ann, Dylan, and Pete will hike the Continental Divide Trail northbound across Wyoming supported by Bob and Carol Fish in their truck and trailer. Guests may join the party in progress at various rendezvous points.

The work-in-progress itinerary has maps and links to campground information in the details for each event:

The nature of this kind of hike is that the dates will change a little as we go, so plans must have some flex in them. To join us at any point, tell me which rendezvous you plan to hit, and we’ll fine tune as the date approaches.

Here’s an overview of the trail route, rendezvous points, and some nearby campgrounds:

Please leave a comment below or email me if you have any input! I’ll try to keep this page up to date as plans progress.

  1. If we’re not hicks yet, we should be by then ๐Ÿ™‚ (For those reading later, I fixed my ‘hicker pickup’ typo).

  2. Hello! Bob and Carol just let me know that you two would be back on the trail this summer and they encouraged us to come and catch up with you for a part of it. I was curious what campsite and week you would be closest/hiking in the Wind River Range. Let us know. We are very uncertain if we will be able to do this since we have 2 kids in tow.. but we are curious. Thanks!

  3. The trail path is now much more accurate, and should be close to where we’ll actually be hiking if you zoom in.

  4. I think we’re going to change our initial meeting place to Bottle Creek Campground near WY70 and FS550, since Hog Park Reservoir campground is closed due to lumber operations dealing with bark beetle kill.

  5. The path has been updated to extend all the way to West Yellowstone, including the last part we hope to drive on FS 1700.

  6. Woo-hoo! This is so exciting! When it goes on a map on the interwebs, it’s like it’s finally real. You guys are going to have such a fantastic adventure!! Good luck!
