Wild Iris

Parked at Wild IrisThe wind has died down in the morning, so we pack up the climbing packs again and head up to the OK Corral wall of Wild Iris. At 9,000 feet, we know this area will be hit-and-miss in October, and it is indeed quite cold when we arrive. It’s sunny, getting warmer, and windier. In the end we manage to climb 3 routes before the wind drives us out.

Unnamed 5.9 – A nice mix of stemming and small pockets near the right end of the wall

Unnamed 5.7 – Ann leads this and cleans it

La Vaca Peligrosa 5.8 – This is the reward of the short day, perfect limestone pocket pulling. Each move is committing, and each is rewarded with deep pockets!
