Pelecanus erythrorhynchos. I can’t quite make out what the duck is.
Heron Lake was teeming with birds this morning. I may have to get up early one of these days and try for some real pictures. You can almost tell from the duck how huge these pelicans are, but I’d love to get some closer shots. I got a decent shot of a Red-winged Blackbird, and a glimpse of one of the resident Great Blue Herons.

How cool! Pelicans! I just got back from Fort Lauerdale where there were lots of brown pelicans. Pelicans and penguins I think of as the world’s funniest-looking birds!
Spring is here too…gorgeous forsythia…blue skies….warm…..
