Day 115

McDonald Pass to Thunderbolt Mountain

Sunny, warm

I see a large variety of forest service and logging roads today. They take me through dense, new-growth woods, older open woods, clear cuts, and everything in between. The road quality varies from barely discernable and overgrown to well-graded with homes peeking out here and there. I think my favorite is a narrow ATV track cut though young lodgepole pines growing so densely on either side they effectively form 20-foot high walls.

I end the day on a new trail to the summit of Thunderbolt Mountain. From the summit I can see half a dozen other mountain ranges around me.

Finally looks like a good night to sleep out under the stars.
