Day 226

Malibu, CA to Oxnard, CA

Missile Park

A nice clear morning. As I ride the wide shoulder I scan the vast ocean for the spouts of whales. Near Port Hueneme I pass a public park called “Missile Park”, which is a fenced plot of dirt with various decomissioned weapons of mass destruction planted in it. A little further on there’s a nice forested state park where I stop for lunch. The hike/bike site is pretty nice, and I feel in no rush, so I just plant myself there for the rest of the day. I explore the dunes near the beach, recharge my phone card, make calls, and read. It’s a day of pleasure, no pressure, no expectations, just some time with myself.
