Movie: The Harmonists

cover

This is a german movie about the fate of a hugely popular singing group started in 1927 called the Comedian Harmonists. Half of the members were Jewish, and the group was eventually split as Hitler came into power. The movie does a really good job of telling the story of the singers without focusing too heavily on villifying the Third Reich. The result is a story of good friends in a bad situation. Sad, but not bitter or spiteful.

  1. i watched “Action Jackson”, starring Carl Weathers, Sharon Stone, Chaka Khan as well as some other faces, last night.

It’s a very cool movie… much better than the panning it got. I am not sure why it got so panned and why there wasn’t any sequels.. the “Action Jackson” character is way cool. He does NOT use a GUN (until the end.. and they shoulda NOT had him use one).

admittedly, there are toooo many scenes in the movie. regardless, it’s pretty darn good.

i started watching “The Getaway”.. original, with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw last night as well. I have seen it before, but NOT un-cut.

good 70’s grit movie.. of course we’d expect nothing less from Sam Peckinpah.
Ali MacGraw is SMOKING hot in this movie.

  2. I think I watched Action Jackson long ago, but I have no memory of it.

Is The Getaway the one with the famous motorcycle scene? I’d like to see a DC of that.
