Hunter Canyon Hike

This is a good Reno discovery: a little 10-minute drive takes us to a trailhead with almost immediate access to the Mount Rose Wilderness. An after work jaunt takes us through bunches of Mule’s Ear and Western Peony into ponderosa and cedar forest, and finally into the waterlogged zone just below snow line. Not bad!

  1. Cool, next time we’re visiting family in Reno it looks like Hunter Canyon would be a good place for a trail run…Last time we were there I was jonesing to get outside and this appears a good/convenient choice! Thanks.

    • Yep this is my favorite access so far. There are a quite a few trailheads scattered around the city limits, I’m still checking them out…
