Went exploring with Roy today and found some fun shizola. A hilltop in the back northeast. Got almost everything, including some harder stuff that even took a little work for Brian, Moe, and Greg when they showed up. Moved to a super highball rock then to more reasonable surfaces, all fun. Good day.
Down in the wash today, got spanked by almost everything but the warmup. There’s an overhang there everyone can do static and I just cannot stick to it. Finally I finished one on the shady side of that rock after popping off the crux fairly high once. Scared Greg cause I turned around in mid air to face the big rock in the landing zone, but I nailed the pad. Cheers to the new Cordless.
Ted forgot his shoes and went home. Worked some stuff in the front with Roy and Charlie. Walter’s crack spanked me again and again, but I got up a bunch of other stuff in the area that made me feel better.
A few good things on the east side today. Playful. Got some pics with the new camera - have to start postin’ em somewhere…
Last climbing session w/ Alexis. She was bummed and I almost felt bad for having a pretty good day. Got a couple of scary things on quadafi’s wall, a new thing near the front, and a really weird but fun problem on the hill that Greg showed me. Beautiful sunset, with the smallest sliver of a new moon I’ve ever seen.
Watched the eclipse with my music teacher Ellen Werback. There was the same eerie silence and strange light I remember from Christmas 2000. It got to about 70%.
More work on the straight east stuff with Ted and Greg. Got that steep footwork problem with the finger dent, that felt good. . Also got our warmup mantle with the nipple off. Soon joined by Alexis, Charlie, Moe, Brian, and kids. Most everything else was spankin me. Almost made a crazy mantle with my feet up at head level. That would be funny as hell.
Played with Ellen first, Bach’s Little Fugue in G minor. Alas, I got nervous and left a large garbled gap in the middle, but recovered for a strong ending.
