  • WordPress Geo Mashup Release 1.2.7

I’ve made a maintenance release of Geo Mashup that should resolve a few minor issues. Happy upgrading. Issue 228 – Inline location (geo_mashup_save_location) not working Issue 219 – locate_template() undefined in WordPress 2.6 Adjusted sub-cat titles in the tabbed index control to show only when they have located children

  • Cerrillos Hills Bike Loop

Ann and I did part of this nice road loop last year. I figure it will be about 30 miles leaving from home. I wonder if I can ride 30 miles in two hours. The answer is no, but almost. I can, however, burn my neck, and lose the ability to walk or sit comfortably.

  • Wyoming CDT Photos

At last I’ve finished obsessing over my trail photos! Part of the reason it took so long is that I really wanted a “storybook” view of the photos – a way to browse pictures and captions from at least the three different hikers in chronological order. This turned out to be difficult, so I took…

  • The Gallows Edge – Climbing?

We haven’t been in the climbing groove for a long time. Not entirely sure why, we pack the gear and go to the highest concentration of easy sport routes we know of nearby: The Gallow’s Edge. And, surprise surprise, it’s fun! We’re able to climb the routes here despite our complete lack of conditioning, and…

  • Local Bike Loop Variation

I try to extend my loop to 15 miles, with a lunch stop added in at the Pastry Tree. A bike ride is feeling like as good a way to break up my day as the little hikes I’ve been making to local coffeeshops.

  • Local Bike Loop

I try to find a way to connect the bike paths in town, while testing out the new recumbent. It’s definitely lighter and faster, but more skittery too. I have to learn to use the front brake more to avoid fishtailing.

  • No Impact Project Event Map

This is a simple presentation of events on a map, with a fun spotlight effect for highlighting a particular event. Geo Mashup needed some significant work to associate a date with a post location – a feature that will now be included in the next release. The No Impact Project promotes a new book and…

  • Putting Flickr in Ordr

I’ve written a small web application for viewing Flickr photos in a specified order: Ordr. The main motivation is to provide a way to view Group pool photos in order by date taken. On my recent hike in Wyoming there were many good photographers taking pictures, all of them Flickr users. A Flickr group is…

  • Book: The Story of Mathematics / Anne Rooney

This book was on sale for 4 bucks at Borders when I had some time to kill. To my surprise, I read the whole thing. I have a terrible time keeping historical timelines in my head, but I love the perspective it gives (while I’m reading, anyway). I learn a few surprising things, like the…
