Julie and Colin of Expedition Canada are the first to row from Europe to America.  What was it like?

If they stopped rowing for two hours, they would lose an entire day’s progress. Determination and toil, almost beyond comprehension, were what kept the boat moving forward.

Real Distance Hiking

Karl Bushby is 17,000 miles into his 36,000-mile trek from the tip of South America to England.  He’s now at what is probably going to be the crux of the route – crossing the frozen Bering Strait.  I wish his site had a RSS feed!

Yahoo! Launches PHP Developer Center

This site looks mostly geared towards using the Yahoo! APIs from PHP.  I’ve found that php.net almost always has the answers I’m looking for, but this is probably worth a bookmark.

Seems like there’s an explosion of outdoor blog interest right now.  Gadling has all kinds of interesting posts, which led me to The Adventure BlogGoBlog gets responses from lots of people looking for outdoor blogs, which led me to The WildeBeat, among others.

‘Garden of Eden’ discovered in New Guinea

This area of unbroached rainforest in New Guinea yielded dozens of unknown species in the first investigation, including 20 species of frog.  It’s likely that subsequent trips will uncover more.

12 lbs = obese?

Haiku, prepping to hike the PCT, is bemoaning the fact that his pack went from 8 lbs to 12 on the AT, and now he just can’t seem to shake the weight. Truly the world has changed since my PCT hike in 1996.
