Namati – Innovations in Legal Empowerment

This is my first BuddyPress site, made once again in cahoots with vernal creative and free range studios. The social functions let member organizations share ideas and tools, while non-member visitors may browse the organization directory, tools, publications, blog, news, and more. The interface sports a couple of varieties of jQuery sliders, data tables, custom widgets, Geo Mashup map, and a lot of BuddyPress enhancements for members and administrators.

YBCA: YOU – An event commentary site

I worked with Vernal recently to implement this member site that provides “an online logbook for keeping track of your artistic experiences”. There were no maps here, but a lot of jQuery work to provide front end forms with a nice user experience. Event logic is always a challenge on the server side, but worked out nicely in this case with a WordPress custom post type and a few meta fields. Now I need to visit the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and see some of the things people are discussing using my code…

Global Citizen Year Rebuild with Isotope Fun

This great program for kids to spend a year abroad between high school and college was ready for a rebuild of their prior site to simplify management and of course add some new candy at the same time. I got the go-ahead to play with the great Isotope jQuery plugin. Try out the filters on the search landing page, fellows blog, and meet the fellows pages. Lots more jQuery goodies can be found around the site, including slide shows, video colorboxes, and carousels.

Congressional Hunger Center – DataTables!

I did a lot of custom WordPress development for this site, but the highlight is the browsing interface for their large library of publications. Publications are presented in a table using the great open source DataTables jQuery plugin. We needed even more filtering abilities to refine the table contents, so I wrote an add on for DataTables to allow filtering the table based on unique values in the table columns. You have to play with it to get how cool this is! Geo Mashup is also featured in the global map of partner sites.

Fair Trade Towns USA

This is one of my larger projects: a nation-wide site for communities that promote fair trade practices. My part of the project demanded a lot from WordPress and Geo Mashup – here are a few standouts:

  • Many custom content types: towns, organizers, retailers, community organizations, and more.
  • Front end forms for users to create content for their town.
  • Replacement for standard map info windows.
  • Lots more: form validation, some Flickr integration, tracking completed “steps” for each town, wufoo form integration, etc…

Clients: teamed with Vernal Creative and Free Range Studios serving several fair trade organizations.
